ABOUT CASON YONG 杨絖兆

Cason is a barrister at Coram Chambers.He practises across all areas of family law, with a strong interest in financial remedies and private children law. He has appeared in a wide range of financial remedy proceedings, including FDRs, final hearings, enforcement and variation applications, Part MFPA 1984 proceedings, and Schedule 1 cases. His previous experience in prime residential property and commercial disputes provides him with a strong foundation for analysing complex business structures and assets. Born and bred in Malaysia, his international background also enables him to work effectively with clients with foreign assets, particularly those in East and South East Asia. Cason welcomes instructions under ToLATA 1996 too.Cason regularly represents clients in both private and public children cases, including multi-day fact-finding and final hearings. He has gained experience in matters involving serious allegations of domestic abuse, coercive control, parental alienation, abduction, and relocation, as well as cases with an international element. He also assists clients on Family Law Act 1996 applications and has significant experience working with vulnerable and neurodivergent clients. Cason is keen to develop his practice in applications under the HFEA 2008, surrogacy, and alternative family structures.Fluent in Mandarin, Cantonese, Malay and Taiwanese Hokkien, Cason has conducted client conferences directly in these languages.Cason ranked 2nd in his year at King’s Law School, obtained a Distinction in his master’s degree at Oxford, and placed 7th out of over 370 students at City Bar School. He continues to publish in leading journals, including the Family Law Journal and the Financial Remedies Journal. He was most recently awarded Gray’s Inn’s most prestigious Bar Course award, the Baroness Hale Scholarship, as well as a scholarship from the Family Law Bar Association.
