Leadership is the work of building the conditions where people can do excellent work consistently and over time.As a third-generation owner, my role is tied to a locally rooted company that has served our community since 1957 and has been part of the Signarama network for more than three decades. While the work involves designing, building, and servicing signs and graphics, the responsibility extends beyond the product itself. It includes developing people, strengthening systems, and making decisions that hold up over the long term.Success is measured less by milestones and more by capability. That shows up in whether the team is growing in skill, judgment, and confidence, and whether the organization is becoming clearer, steadier, and more resilient as a result.Much of the work centers on navigating the real tradeoffs leadership demands. Growth versus sustainability. Policies versus customer care. Speed versus craftsmanship. These tensions do not disappear, and leaders are responsible for holding them well.This space is used to share lessons learned in real time about leadership, team development, and building businesses that are built to last.
