About Casey Teske

I have always wanted to be the bridge between fire practitioners and fire researchers, and have been able to make that happen with my 20+ years of experience and expertise. Previously in my jobs as the Grand Canyon NP Fire Ecologist, and the Spatial Fire Ecologist position I held at Tall Timbers, I used my role to make the connections between applied fire management and current science, and to discuss Fire Behavior, Ecology and Management principles with a wide variety of audiences. I am actively engaged in wildfire and ecology decision making and research, public education and outreach, and operational fire decision making duties during both prescribed fires and wildfires. I have also served as the research liaison between the fire researchers and fire managers in fire-ecology-based research efforts. My goals in this position are to: 1) use data to enhance public understanding of wildfire as a process and fire\'s role on the landscape; 2) to engage and encourage scientific inquiry on active fires; and 3) to promote ecological understanding through the use of current technologies including remote sensing and GIS. I am an advocate for women in the workforce, technological development, and wildland fire science endeavors. I am interested in pursuing international opportunities, assisting with implementation of technologies to realize efficiencies (especially AI/ML/DSS as it relates to operations), and fuels/fire planning and fire behavior forecasting using current technologies. Please reach out if you think I can be of service - I would love to hear from you.
