As a Senior Planner at the County of Marin, I work on many of the initiatives housed under the Zero Waste Marin Joint Powers Authority. I am the primary lead on creating and managing community outreach materials, including social media, our newsletter, the website, and physical outreach like flyers or letters. I supervise and manage the Zero Waste Marin Schools Program, which supports 40+ schools in Marin County to improve recycling and composting efforts, comply with state waste laws, and reduce their landfill waste. I manage budgets, supervise our contract with a non-profit to implement education, and work on program design to improve implementation. I also manage and implement various requirements of SB 1383, California’s Short-Lived Climate Pollutants Act focused on reducing methane gas. Specifically, I manage our edible food recovery programs to rescue edible food from disposal and instead ensure it goes to feed those who are food-insecure. I also manage the creation of outreach materials to educate residents, businesses, and other entities about SB 1383 requirements. Finally, I manage contracts for various community outreach programs designed to help community members reduce waste. This includes our pilot program to bring free Repair Fairs to our communities, a pilot program on swapping out single-use foodware for reusable foodware, and a pilot to determine if food dehydrators help improve participation in compost programs.
