Through USAG I have coached gymnastics at two different gyms; Increased Heights Gymnastics in Little Rock Arkansas, The Williams Center of Dance, Cheer, & Gymnastics in Fayetteville Arkansas-Coached 80 participants weekly ages three to thirteen-Taught five different class types-Tiny Tots: ages two through three and a half and the main goals are body awareness, being independent from parents during playtime/gymnastics and learning how to play with other kids, i.e. sharing and taking turns-Tumble Bugs: ages three and a half through five and a half, the goals at this age are very similar to Tiny Tots with more gymnastics skills added in like somersaults and cartwheels and we use the vault, bars, beam, and floor-Regular Gym: ages five and a half through 16 and the goals in this class are more gymnastics based with an emphasis on mind-body connection, we use the vault, bars, beam, and floor-Boys Gym: ages five and a half through 14 and the goals of this class are more strength and gymnastics based with an emphasis on mind-body connection and listening skills, we use the floor, pommel horse, parallel bars, mushroom, trampoline, vault, rings, and the rope-Tumbling: ages five through 15 and the goals of this class are flexibility and strength based and working on skills on the floor and trampoline to improve tumbling abilities.The biggest focus in every class type is encouraging each child, no matter the age or skill level-Encouraged children to identify goals and ways to work towards them-Focused on the fun of sports to allow children a positive environment for learning-Served as a resource for other coaches.
