About Carter Haines

An experienced financial professional well-versed in the healthcare landscape among a multitude of industries with an acumen for analytics and creative problem solving. Upon graduating cum laude from the University of Tampa with a B.S. in Finance, Carter returned to WellCare Health Plans as a Financial Data Reporting Analyst, one year following a summer analyst company in Investor Relations. In the new position, he prepared and analyzed financial statements for the organization working closely with the company’s controller during the monthly and quarterly close processes to ensure timely and accurate financials. Additionally, Carter worked within the Medicaid Revenue team, responsible for working with the Hawaii and Illinois markets, leading revenue review calls with both organizational and market leaders on a monthly basis. Carter also took on handling all membership reporting for WellCare, which included distributing the monthly Membership Report used throughout the organization. Following the closing of the Centene acquisition of WellCare, Carter successfully navigated the merger through systems integration, company restructuring, and now has transitioned to working with Centene’s Medicare segment. Prior to WellCare/Centene, Carter was highly involved at the University of Tampa. He was a dual-sport athlete as a member of both the Men’s Lacrosse team as well as the Men’s Ice Hockey team, reaching a total of 7 National Tournaments with both programs, advancing as far as the Final Four. Off the field, he served as the hockey program’s president coordinating many key aspects of operation such as activating sponsorships, directing retail sales, recruiting prospects, and creating original content for the program’s website and social media. He was also active in UT’s chapter of Beta Alpha Psi, the university’s Finance and Accounting professional organization; he was also elected to a Campus Wide Senate seat in UT’s Student Government which he held for 2 years. During his time at UT, Carter also completed internships at Cushman & Wakefield, Signature Lacrosse, and WellCare Health Plans. Having had 3 internship experiences, he has been able to gain valuable insight in a variety of different roles and industries prior to full-time endeavors. Carter remains interested in opportunities in the fields of corporate finance (Corp. Strategy, M&A, PE, FP & A), collegiate and professional sports, and commercial real estate.
