ABOUT MATT CARTER
Carter grew up spending summers primarily indoors (thanks to the Las Vegas desert), creating his own LEGO cities on top of a Hot Wheels floor mat, which outlined where buildings and streets would go. Some of the buildings were as-is out of the box, but some of them required custom elevators to be made from scratch. He began working in theatre production at a performing arts middle school in Vegas (he was in Show Choir there too, but we don\'t talk about that), though his work there was not of the same scope or caliber as the jobs he does now. Living in New York City for 7 1/2 years, Carter worked at Hudson Scenic Studio on the fabrication design of scenery for more than 20 Broadway shows, their national and international tours, and other live events including theme parks and cruise ships. In 2021, he traded one coast for another and is now the Technical Design Manager and de facto Lead Custom Fabrication Tech Designer for All Access Staging and Productions, working on staging and scenery for concerts, music festivals, sporting events, and television. His own personal highlights from All Access are working on the Super Bowl Halftime show, the September 2024 surprise relaunch concert for Linkin Park, the UFC Fighting Ring (\"The Octagon\"), and several WWE events including WrestleMania stages.Carter enjoys helping designers make their aesthetic plans more feasible, but also loves geometry, physics, and finding the right Excel formula to make tracking information easier. He knows that the blank space on a drawing has just as much to do with its legibility as the dimension lines - and that is what makes him a good balance of artist and technician.
