About Carter Horvath
I am a second-year doctoral student in the School Psychology Ph.D. program at the University of Georgia (UGA), where I work under the mentorship of Dr. Scott Ardoin. I integrate behavior-analytic theory into research and clinical work focused on supporting neurodiverse individuals. My primary research interests include the assessment and intervention of neurodevelopmental disabilities, academic interventions, clinical behavior analysis/behavioral pediatrics, and the training and supervision of practitioners. Clinically, I have received training across school, clinic, and academic medical center settings, providing applied behavior analysis (ABA) services to individuals with diverse behavioral, developmental, and educational needs. I am passionate about advancing evidence-based practices and creating inclusive, supportive systems for neurodiverse populations. Before beginning my doctoral studies, I earned a Master’s degree in Applied Behavior Analysis at UGA and became a board-certified behavior analyst (BCBA). I served as a Graduate Research Assistant at the UGA Center for Autism and Behavioral Education Research, gaining hands-on experience in school and clinical environments. My academic journey began with a B.S. in Psychology with a Neuroscience emphasis from UGA, where I graduated summa cum laude from the Morehead Honors College. As an undergraduate researcher in the Child Attention and Autism Research Evaluation (CAARE) Lab under Dr. Ashley Harrison, I explored topics such as autism knowledge, stigma, and disparities. I completed an honors thesis on college peer attitudes toward educational accommodations, earning the CURO Research Distinction. Across all roles, I am committed to using science to inform practice, promote equity, and empower individuals and systems to better support neurodiverse communities.
