About Carter Cosgray
As an economist at the Florida Legislature, I applied my master\'s degree in food and resource economics and my skills in model creation, data analysis, and public policy analysis to support the development and evaluation of legislation and programs that affect the state\'s economy, environment, and society. I worked with legislators, stakeholders, and other analysts to provide research, analysis, and recommendations on various topics, such as agriculture, natural resources, and taxation. I worked for 2 years as a research assistant at UF/IFAS. Tasked with a research project for cover crops and reflective mulch in citrus farms. These conservational, best management practices may alleviate some of the impact from citrus greening disease. Gathered survey of farmers and implemented econometric techniques to estimate willingness to pay from dichotomous choice model. I have been working as an economist for nearly 5 years. I completed my bachelor\'s and master\'s degrees in food and resource economics at the University of Florida, where I gained a solid foundation in economic theory, methods, and applications, as well as a deep understanding of the issues and challenges facing the agriculture and natural resource sectors. My education and work experience have shaped my core competencies of critical thinking, communication, collaboration, and creativity, and my mission of promoting economic and social well-being through evidence-based policy making. I am passionate about the field of food and resource economics, and I am always eager to learn new skills, explore new topics, and engage with diverse perspectives. My goal is to continue to grow as a professional economist and to make a positive impact on the state of Florida and beyond.
