WORK HISTORY
Associate Director of Development @American Cancer Society
To attack cancer from every angle, we build relationships, educate communities, and empower volunteers to lead the fight. Events like Relay For Life and Making Strides Against Breast Cancer are vital to achieving our mission, but we also identify new opportunities for individuals and communities to invest in our mission. With 99% of the American Cancer Society\'s annual funding comes from individuals and corporations, building relationships is an integral component of our work.In this role I have the opportunity to serve as an internal and external leader, fostering collaboration and contributing to strategic direction of income development for the Southeast Michigan region.see less

ABOUT CARRIE FRANCHI HYMAN
I love helping people & companies engage in and position themselves as leaders in the fight against cancer. I am a key member of the American Cancer Society Michigan team, supporting its work to save lives, celebrate lives and lead the fight for a world without cancer. I lead community development activities in the Greater Detroit area, including Making Strides Against Breast Cancer of Detroit 5K (Hart Plaza), Real Men Wear Pink Campaign, sports alliance partners, corporate executives and volunteer communications, and more. HOW I’M DIFFERENT: I am an experienced “people person” and will listen to your goals and interests in order to find the best fit for you when it comes to a partnership with the American Cancer Society. c••••••••@cancer.org I 24••••••67My career as a cancer fighter began in the 2009, one year after losing my grandmother, the matriarch of our family, to cancer. I decided I had heard enough stories about loved ones losing their battle and I decided it was time to do something more. I received a Bachelor of Arts degree from Western Michigan University with a minor in mathematics, as well as a Master’s Degree from Laurence Technology University with a focus on nonprofit management and leadership. On days off, I enjoy spending my time.
