ABOUT CARRIE MCCARTHY

I have a varied education and my personal and professional background offers me a unique platform to support and relate to individuals on various levels. I want to support schools in closing the attainment gap whilst raising standards in education with every child achieving their full potential. My skills and knowledge to date put me in a strong position to achieve this goal. My unique skill set enables me to provide young people the support they need to unlock their talent and allow them to feel safe and listened to. Education is a strong driver of social mobility and equality is of the upmost importance. I am interested in cognitive science and how students learn, having studied Rosenshine\'s Principles of Instruction. A deeper understanding of how students learn and retain information can support them in becoming more effective learners. My aim in the classroom is to reduce cognitive load to maximize learning and promote long-term retention.
