I am a Middle School Principal and Change Agent dedicated to one mission: rewriting the narrative for students in the Southwest Bronx.Middle school is the critical pivot point in a child’s life. After over 25 years in education—including a decade as an Assistant Superintendent of Leadership Development mentoring aspiring leaders—I chose to return to the Principalship in February 2023. I moved from \"talking the walk\" of leadership to \"walking the walk\" in District 9, one of our city\'s most deserving communities. My goal was not just to manage a school, but to transform it. I lead with the belief that equity is an action, not just a buzzword.The Transformation: In a short time, my team and I have aggressively tackled the opportunity gap by infusing our campus with inclusivity, joy, and innovation. We have moved from planning to execution, delivering rapid results in culture, funding, and academics:Closing the Achievement Gap: Achieved a 67% Pass Rate on 8th Grade Algebra Regents—proving our students can excel in advanced math.Expanding Access & Equity: Secured a $2.25M grant for a new Community Library and Media Center (in partnership with Principal Devon Eisenberg and local council members), because our students deserve world-class resources.Revitalizing the Arts: Secured approximately in Arts funding over the course of 2 yearsCommunity as Campus: Partnered with civic leaders to secure a $200K STEAM Grant and established \"Open Streets\" and mentorship programs for every student through partnerships with Dear Black Boy and Dear Black Girl.This work is not for the meek. It requires resilience, joy, and a refusal to accept the status quo. I am a teacher first. I am exactly where I am supposed to be—championing the potential of every middle schooler who walks through our doors. Under the supportive leadership of District 9, I have focused on infusing inclusivity, joy, and innovation back into the school community.
