ABOUT CAROLYN COSTIGAN

What I do: I provide bespoke Wealth Management solutions to high-net-worth individuals and families; leveraging all of the resources that RBC has available to create a plan with purpose. A passion of mine is working with and empowering women and families. I work for affluent professionals and retirees looking to grow, preserve and protect multi-generational wealth. Many of my clients are busy with life, family, work, and travel! At any given point in time, my clients could be navigating decisions for their family; for their business; for their future. I help my clients make informed decisions. I help my clients identify and implement wealth strategies including business succession, estate planning, and tax efficient wealth transfer. Why I do it: I love finding solutions to help people meet the challenges of today! About me: I live with my wife on the UBC campus in beautiful Vancouver. She is a Condensed Matter Theoretical Physicist -don\'t ask me to explain her job description! We live with a 10 year old Border Collie named \"May\" who, I might add, has done a fantastic job of training us both. Prior to joining RBC Dominion Securities, I was a successful business owner and operator, including two startups, over 11 years. This experience gives me a unique perspective when managing wealth. Being a business owner is a 24-7 profession. My most recent experience with the start-up of an independent investment research firm, costiganreports.com, has been most useful. Through that company, which I founded with my dad, I provided actionable investment solutions to institutional clients. In other words, we completed deep dive, bottom-up fundamental research reports on individual stocks, with a niche focus on publicly traded mid cap stocks. Prior to this I started my first company at the age of 27 as a public thoroughbred racehorse trainer for international clients, competing at the highest level in Toronto (Woodbine), The United States and Ireland, employing 14 people. I competed in the Breeders’ Cup World Championships. I was the youngest trainer and also the first female trainer to win the Canadian Woodbine Oaks. I was the first Canadian to be accepted into the scholarship program Godolphin Flying Start. My passion for animal husbandry drew me to the sport. I love hiking and camping around the lower mainland with my family. I hiked the Camino de Santiago for two months with May; it was amazing. We hiked mostly in France so that May was welcome in all places! On the bucket list is to hike Te Araroa and the West Coast Trail (Vancouver Island).
