ABOUT CAROLYN MACDONALD
I use my unique perspective and experiences as a lawyer in order to provide innovative solutions to complex cross-border tax issues for my clients. I have practiced law in British Columbia for over sixteen years. My tax experience includes advising Canadian and foreign companies on a wide range of matters such as corporate reorganizations, mergers and acquisitions, cross-border financings and Canadian and international transactions. I also advise on inbound and outbound cross-border investments, due diligence, acquisitions and divestitures. My clients include both public and private companies across a wide-range of industries. I strive to provide forward-thinking tax advice which reflects the rapidly changing international tax environment, and am a frequent speaker and author on cross-border tax issues and Canada’s tax treaties. In 2021 I received the Lexpert® Rising Stars: Leading Lawyers Under 40 Award and listed as a Leading Lawyer to Watch in the Canadian Legal Lexpert® Directory in the field of corporate tax. I was recognized for expertise in tax in the Best Lawyers Canada 2025 Edition. I am committed to giving back to our community and currently serve on the editorial board of the legal journal The Advocate. I have served on the Young International Fiscal Association Network Committee (Canada) and the board of the Vancouver Bar Association for over a decade (most recently as Secretary-Treasurer).
