About Carol Steckel
Over the past two decades I have made it my goal to champion innovation in healthcare delivery to improve patient access to quality, affordable medical services. During this time, I have served within director-level roles in governmental agencies across multiple states in order to inform Medicaid policy development and lead agency responses to changes in healthcare legislation. My positions were frequently governmental appointments and it was an honor to apply my expertise to influence healthcare reform, establish centers of innovation, and introduce new health information systems. In recent years, I have cultivated strong partnerships with healthcare providers, government agencies, and health alliances across the nation as an alliance development nexecutive at WellCare Health Plans. My focus has remained on expanding opportunities for managed care services, and I supported successful efforts to secure new business in Florida, Nebraska and Iowa. I also introduced WellCare to senior members of the federal administration and major alliances, such as the National Medicaid Directors\' Association. While I have dedicated the majority of my career to improving healthcare delivery as an expert in Medicaid, I also served as CEO of Survey associates, a consulting firm specializing in regulations relating to long-term healthcare services. Early in my career, I provided leadership to various programs within Northport Health Services, the March of Dimes, the Alabama Medicaid Agency, and the F3edeeral Office of Prepaid Healthcare, among others. I have also fostered a new generation of healthcare professionals as an adjunct professor with the University of Alabama. I am an active member of the national Medicaid community, and I am always interested in making new connections with professional who share my dedication to healthcare.
