About Caroline Rauffenbart
I work in competitive R&D intelligence within the cardio-renal-metabolic disease research group at Boehringer Ingelheim. I analyze scientific, clinical, patent, and business developments across discovery, preclinical, and clinical-stage programs and translate them into strategic implications for research and pipeline planning.Trained as a translational neuroscientist (PhD, Columbia University), I bring a mechanistic lens to evaluating emerging therapeutic approaches. I am particularly interested in how early scientific and competitive signals shape portfolio strategy and partnership decisions in biopharma. My doctoral research in the Javitch Lab focused on receptor pharmacology and intracellular signaling dynamics, using BRET-based approaches to characterize drug-induced effector recruitment to metabotropic glutamate receptors (mGluRs). I also investigated the molecular basis of dopamine receptor signaling cascades; I studied the divergent intracellular pathways downstream of the dopamine \"D2R\" receptor and their effects on brain activity and behavior. Recipient of the NIH/NIDA Ruth L. Kirschstein F31 fellowship award. Project summary: https://reporter.nih.gov/project-details/10••••22
