ABOUT CAROLINE FEATHERBY

I am a Partner in the Court of Protection team at Barcan & Kirby. I have over 15 years experience working solely on Court of Protection matters. I qualified as a Solicitor in September 2014 and specialise in supporting those who lack mental capacity to manage their property and finances. I primarily act for those requiring a deputy as a result of an acquired brain injury, and in most cases where there is or has been an ongoing personal injury/clinical negligence claim. In my current role, I act as deputy and lead on day to day management of the case and manage all aspects of the client\'s property and finances. This can include, but is not exclusive to, purchasing and selling property, investing large sums, day to day running of finances, making applications for direct payments, PIP and other related benefits, putting in place care packages, directly employing care teams and working alongside the litigation team in progressing the claim, where proceedings are ongoing.I specialise in working with clients with extremely complex needs and manage their significant portfolios, property projects, all aspects of financial planning and Statutory Will applications. I also advise on Personal Injury Trusts and Lasting Powers of Attorney.In addition, I manage junior fee earners and support staff and play an instrumental role in the progress and development of the Court of Protection team, here at Barcan & Kirby.I am also a Committee Member of the Professional Deputies Forum; an organisation created and built to support and share knowledge with other professional deputies across the country. We work together to ensure that those for whom the Court of Protection exists get the best possible experience with a high standard of professional deputies acting on their behalf.
