About Caroline Charpentier

After acquiring a strong scientific background at ENS, I completed my PhD in Cognitive Neuroscience at University College London, and postdoctoral research at Caltech. I started my lab at the University of Maryland, College Park in summer 2023. My research focuses on investigating how emotional states (the way we feel) and social cognition (the way we interact with others) influence how we learn and make decisions in everyday life situations, using behavioral experiments, neuroimaging and computational models. In the future, I hope to be able to use this research to develop applications for behavioral change in society and effective interventions for mental disorders such as depression and anxiety.Specialties: Neuroscience, Social Cognition, Psychology, Behavioral economics, Computational Psychiatry
