ABOUT CAROLINE BERTONECHE
A poetry specialist and a Romanticist, I have studied both in France (at the Sorbonne) and in England (at Oxford) as well as in the United States (at Harvard and Yale). I have been teaching English literature and literary criticism for more than 15 years now with a focus, in my research, on the notions of myth and influence, of grief, illness and the aesthetics of pain, in other words the connections between poetic and scientific discourse in the nineteenth century. I am also interested in the links between art history and the history of sciences (astronomy, biology, medicine). I am working to develop the field of the medical humanities in my university.
