I work as a Partner at specialist human rights firm Rook Irwin Sweeney. My specialist areas of practice are education, health, and social care law. I regularly act in judicial reviews challenging government and local authority practices where this impacts on disabled people and their families. I also advise charities on the same issues. I act in challenges to children and young people’s special educational provision in the First Tier Tribunal. I also have a busy Court of Protection practice where I act for adults who lack capacity to make decisions in various areas, and their family members, to ensure that best interest decisions are made for them. This can include serious medical treatment decisions. I am accredited under the Law Society’s Mental Capacity Act accreditation scheme as an Accredited Legal Representative (ALR).
