About Carolina I. Serrano Martínez
As a dedicated, creative thinker, I am a Sr. Engineer at Eli Lilly & Company\'s Lebanon API Manufacturing site. I am part of the startup team for Lilly’s biggest investment in a manufacturing site that will increase our production capacity and bring medicine to more patients that need it. As a part of this role, I’m on an International Assignment at Lilly’s Kinsale, Ireland site as a Shift Tech Support Engineer in our Continuous Peptide Manufacturing Facility to grow my knowledge of the process and support the startup of Lebanon API Manufacturing site.Previously, I was a Process Control Engineer for Lebanon API Manufacturing plant where I developed my DeltaV automation skills and deepened my understanding of the intricacies of such an automated plant. Before that I was a part of the Corporate Engineering department where I developed, optimized and transferred manufacturing processes to Lilly\'s site in Ireland, ensuring a consistent and dependable supply of Lilly\'s essential medicines. I have showcased my leadership abilities within Lilly, contributing as a member of the Professional Development Committee of IGNITE and serving as the Communications lead for the Organization of LatinX at Lilly. I also fulfilled the role of Point Captain for Lilly Engineering recruiting at my alma mater, Texas A&M University. In 2021, I graduated Cum Laude from Texas A&M University, with a degree in Chemical Engineering, a minor in Engineering Project Management and certificates in International Engineering and Engineering Therapeutics Manufacturing. I also attained the Engineer-In-Training (EIT) certification from NCEES in 2022. I actively mentor students and contribute to the development of young talent through my engineering expertise, leadership and by launching MentorISPE, an international group mentorship program within Women In Pharma. I served as the Emerging Leader Chair for the North America and South America Affiliate Council (NASAAC) within the International Society for Pharmaceutical Engineering (ISPE). I am characterized by my visionary thinking, empathy, and determination to achieve my goals and support others. I aim to continue bridging the gap between academia and industry by creating opportunities for young talent within the pharmaceutical sector. My interests include pharma and biotech, process development and optimization, leadership, entrepreneurship, music, nutrition and fitness!I love meeting new people and making new connections.
