ABOUT CAROLINA DE ALMEIDA PERNAMBUCO MORON

I am an AI Research Fellow at NYU Peace Research and Education Program (PREP). In parallel, I am producing research to brief the UN Counter-Terrorism Executive Committee Directorate (CTED) on emergent trends in terrorism and organized crime in Latin America, the Caribbean, and West Africa regions.Highlights in my professional experience include cross-sector project and partnership management, writing English, Portuguese, and Spanish risk reports in consultancy, and redesigning strategic planning for non-profits.What differentiates me is having various field experiences under diverse environments. In 2018 and 2019, I lived in Nairobi, Kenya, where I dedicated my time at grassroots organization called Mama Africa — I managed micro financing of 30 women entrepreneurs and led a business workshop with techniques to solve social issues. More recently, I have been working to develop MVDC project — the first AI voice-based system to improve early-warning systems embedded in human-centered approach for data governance, ethically sourced data, and bias mitigation. While I was on the ground in Malawi, I established partnerships with the government, academia, civil society, and private sector, securing a fund of dollars. My academic path reflects commitment to depth. At NYU, I was selected to conduct field research on poverty and economic development across Delhi, Hyderabad, and Bangalore (2024), and on counterterrorism challenges in London, Belfast, and Dublin (2025). My undergraduate degree in International Relations with a minor in Government Affairs grounds my work in governance, policy development, and corporate diplomacy. My knowledge realms are in the fields of public-private partnerships, geopolitics, counterterrorism, security, risk evaluation, AI and peacebuilding. I have strong adaptability skills from my past experiences, promoting cultural awareness and a commitment to diversity and inclusion. Throughout my life, I have dedicated my efforts to continuous learning, ethics, integrity, and gender equality.I am actively looking for Spring internships and full-time roles in NYC. Feel free to connect and stay in touch!
