About Carol Daria

I am interested in a teaching position as a Middle School Math/Math Intervention, Project Lead the Way (PLTW) or Career Pathways teacher working with students in 6th-8th grades. I have taught Math Intervention (Math 180) to middle school students (6th - 8th grade) for 2 years and Introduction to Engineering Design using Project Lead the Way curriculum to high school freshmen for 1 year. I was also a Substitute Teacher for 6 years fulfilling substitute teacher duties on a daily basis as well as long term needs at the elementary and middle school level. I feel it is important to help students learn math skills that will contribute to their development as mature, able and responsible men and women while participating in hands-on activities that allow them to relate to everyday life situations. Through my interactions with students, I have learned that they have minimal direction in investigating job and career possibilities once they graduate from high school. They are unaware of the many opportunities available to them based on their interests. They don\'t know how to research the opportunities, determine education needed, complete the job and/or college application process, scholarship process and interview process. I think it is important to expose students to these concepts as early as possible instead of waiting until they are juniors and seniors in high school.
