ABOUT CAROL CHAPLA
Carol Chapla is a New York City based dance educator, choreographer, and performing artist, currently pursuing her Ed.D. in Dance Education at Teachers College, Columbia University. Her interests include dance in the digital age and its healing benefits. In March 2024, she received her 200-hour Power Yoga teacher training certificate from the Lyons Den Power Yoga Studio in New York City. Throughout her career, Carol has made contributions to dance education. She has served as a faculty member at the Frank Sinatra School of the Arts and The Marymount School of New York, and as a teaching artist with the American Ballroom Theater\'s Dancing Classrooms, including her appearance in the documentary feature film Mad Hot Ballroom.Carol has performed at venues including The Wild Project, Madison Square Garden, the Lower East Side Festival of the Arts, Disney World, and Pennsylvania Dance Theatre. She has choreographed for the New York City Fringe Festival and presented at SELF Magazine\'s Workout in the Park. Her contributions include developing dance curriculum at the Marymount School of New York, where she choreographed musicals and singer performances, and collaborating with the Carnegie Hall Musical Explorers program.Carol\'s reach extends beyond television and into media platforms. She has danced and promoted fitness on shows such as The Dr. Oz Show, Live with Kelly & Michael, and Good Morning America. Her expertise has been featured in publications such as The New York Times, The New York Post, and Dance Spirit Magazine.With over a decade-long association with Crunch, Carol\'s contributions include curriculum development and presentations at IDEA. She has also served as a master trainer for LaBlast, a dance workout created by Louis Van Amstel, a choreographer for ABC’s Dancing with the Stars. Her role as manager and master instructor at Crunch involved liaising and choreographing for Broadway Dance Series classes in collaboration with musical casts of Broadway productions.Carol is a certified New York State K-12 Dance Educator, involved with organizations such as the New York State Dance Education Association (NYSDEA) and the National Dance Education Organization (NDEO). She holds a Human Development and Family Studies Bachelor of Science degree from Pennsylvania State University and a Master of Arts in Dance and Dance Education from New York University’s Steinhardt School of Culture, Education, and Human Development, where she was honored with the Outstanding Achievement in Dance Education Award.
