ABOUT CARMINE GEMEI

I am a sports journalist with an enthusiasm for entertaining and informing my audience through broadcast and online content. I enjoy relating sports to life and culture with human interest stories, which allows my work to affect a much wider audience than just sports fans. I worked on SportsCenter for 2 years at ESPN, and I produced segments, highlights, breakdown tapes and social media videos that got millions of views.I left the \"Worldwide Leader\" to follow in my father\'s footsteps and take my dream job as an on-air sports broadcaster. I was the Sports Director at KTWO-TV in Casper, Wyoming for two years. I loved working in Cowboy country, covering several rodeos including the College National Finals, University of Wyoming football and local sports. On my last day at the station, a local high school organized a drive-by parade to surprise me with a \"thank you\" and gave me one of the best moments of my life. I will never forget the connection I made with the people miles from my hometown from a completely different background.For three years, I worked as the Sports Director and Evening News Anchor at KTVL in Medford, OR. I really enjoyed producing and hosting our Friday Night Football and Friday Night Basketball specials and covering sports stories on high school sports adapting to Covid-19, young kids setting records on local mountains, a local college starting an Esports program and much more. I have also gained great experience and professionalism anchoring three newscasts a day, leading an investigative series \"Ripple Effect,\" and anchoring live breaking news cut-in updates during our deadly wildfire season. Now in my time at FOX Carolina in Greenville, SC, I have covered events including Final Fours, The Masters and College Football Playoff games while telling people-focused stories about the Clemson Tigers, South Carolina Gamecocks, Carolina Panthers, Atlanta Braves, our local high schools and much more.After two years as a Sports Reporter, I am proud to step into the role of Sports Director here and continue pushing our department forward with exclusive shows on our Palmetto Sports and Entertainment Network, the Coach\'s Cast with Clemson Head Coaches Dabo Swinney and Brad Brownell during football and basketball seasons, sports specials and Monday Night is Clemson Night on FOX Carolina.I am excited to keep telling impactful, thoughtful sports stories that connect with all news viewers (sports fans and not) on-air and online and improve my work in the process!
