ABOUT CARMELO STERRANTINO
Medical doctor with 8 years\' experience in the pharmaceutical industry. Graduated with honours in 2010, I joined the CRD at the University of York, UK, in 2015 as a visiting research fellow and, the next year, the Portuguese Branch of the Iberoamerican Cochrane Network. In 2017 I joined Amgen\'s Medical Affairs as a Medical Science Liaison. In this role I organized and conducted advisory boards with national experts and provided support to market access dealing with regional authorities. Thanks to the experience acquired through these activities, I have been appointed SPOC for the market access team, taking part to a negotiation process with AIFA. Moved to Milan to work as medical advisor before leaving Amgen to lead the Acute Care medical team at Alexion in 2021. As a Medical Affairs Manager I was responsible for the introduction of the company in a completely new therapeutic area, coordinating the MSLs’ activities of stakeholder mapping, insights collection and scientific engagement, while supporting the market access in the reimbursement process. In the last 4 years I\'ve been responsible for the creation and execution of the medical plan including, remarkable practice change projects, Independent research support, advisory boards, sponsorships, editorial projects and a stand alone educational event, in both Alexion and AstraZeneca Besides the academic experience in the field of pharmacoepidemiology and evidence synthesis, resulting in publications on important peer-reviewed journals such as International Journal of Cancer and European Respiratory Journal, as a resident in clinical pharmacology I’ve worked with an ethics committee for the evaluation of scientific protocols. I have also advised a senior pharmacologist for the evaluation of medicines to be included in the local drug reference book.
