ABOUT CARLOTA BALCELLS GUARDIA

MA Conservation of Easel Paintings student with collections care and administration experience. Highly organized and able to manage multiple projects at once, I maintain strong attention to detail in high-pressure environments. I learn new technological systems quickly and communicate effectively both verbally and in writing. I perform best when working as part of a team, but I can also work effectively on my own. I have great interest in the field of conservation, which stems from my love for archaeology and history in combination with my long-held passion for fine art. My dissertation on the motivations of cultural heritage destruction at the hands of Daesh, awarded Best Undergraduate Dissertation 2021 by CBRL (Council for British Research in the Levant), enhanced my awareness of ethical and cultural importance of preserving archaeological material, further bolstering my desire to learn about the practices of preservation and to become an active participant in this effort.
