About Carlos F. Concepcion

My practice concentrates on international litigation and arbitration involving, financial services, directors and officers, and transnational disputes involving parties and witnesses from multiple jurisdictions. I have substantial trial experience with multilingual and multicultural teams that provide a strategic advantage in dealing with parties and evidence from different legal systems, especially in South America, Brazil and the Caribbean.I also have extensive experience in international corporate investigations and Special Litigation committees. For example, I led lead an internal investigation and litigation team representing a Special Litigation committee in the failure of a major Bank in Puerto Rico and a related shareholder derivative action. In addition, I was lead counsel for several Canadian investors in a Multi District Litigation dispute regarding a time share resort in the Dominican Republic. I represent parties in international arbitration in a number of industries. I\'ve worked with many of the leading arbitration organizations and have conducted proceedings in Spanish and English in which the seat of the arbitration and governing law has been in multiple countries. I also have experience under the UNCITRAL Rules and the International Bar Association Rules. I am a member of numerous organizations, including the International Chamber of Commerce, Institute for Conflict Prevention and Resolution, Federation of Defense & Corporate Counsel, and The Million Dollar Advocate Forum. I am also a Fellow of the Chartered Institute of Arbitrators, which is the highest level of arbitration training and experience recognized by that institution

   I serve as an international arbitrator and an advocate for individuals and cross border businesses with interests in the Americas and Europe. As an arbitrator, I focus on institutional proceedings involving international and domestic commercial disputes, and investment-treaty matters administered by ICSID. As an advocate, I will continue to represent select clients on certain international business disputes, and parties in investor-state international treaty cases. I have more than 35 years of experience in international disputes, especially in the intersection between common and civil law jurisdictions. Part of this experience includes serving in leadership roles in some of the largest firms in the world.
