A magna cum laude graduate of the University of Pennsylvania and alum of the MFA Program for Writers at Warren Wilson College, Carlos was named 2021 Georgia Author of the Year by the Georgia Writers Association, 2016 Best Diversity Artist by Campus Activities Magazine, Artist of the Year at the 2009 Promoting Outstanding Writers Awards, and a 2025 and 2024 NACE Speaker of the Year nominee.    Developed and facilitated custom-tailored programming and trainings for innovate diversity consulting firm dedicated to using the creative arts to facilitate dialogue across lines of identity and difference-The Dialogue Arts Project (DAP) partners with organizations to create energizing training experiences in order to help students and leaders collaborate and communicate more effectively across lines of social identity. DAP uses the arts and the creative process as a means of generating dialogue across difference, delivering workshop services and facilitated dialogue to a range of clients including university faculty, teachers-in-training, student leadership groups, and employees of Fortune 500 companies and non-profit organizations.
