Special Projects Advisor @Centers for Disease Control and Prevention
Atlanta, GA, US
Trainee (federal FTP) in NCIPC\'s Developing Leaders in Science Management (DeLiSM) advance training program. The DeLiSM Program is hosted within the NCIPC’s Office of Program Management & Operations (OPMO). With DeLiSM, I received customized trainings on improving leadership skills (e, problem solving and strategic thinking), knowledge on operations (e.g, financial and human capital), communications (e.g, emotional, negotiation, and conflict management), and applied science in public health (e.g, ethics, equity). I achieved program goals through the completion of three “rotations” over nine-month period: Operations and Management; Science, Strategy, and Planning; and Data Modernization and Readiness. In each rotation, I was able to work with Center Leadership to gain an enterprise perspective. In addition to hands-on experience with multiple agency-wide activities, I received direct training on CDC-wide equity and strategic planning initiatives. The training expanded my ability to create and lead a culture of innovation. I improved my ability to lead others in understanding the full scope of the organization’s work, including the organization’s governing laws, policies, and regulations. From DeLiSM Program, I developed skills to create systems of work by understanding, influencing, and socializing new methods of communicating.
