ABOUT CARLOS M. BERMUDEZ

I am a partner in Akin\'s Los Angeles office and a member of the Corporate Group. My principal areas of focus include M&A, private equity, media & entertainment, projects & energy transition and cross-border transactions. I represent a diverse set of clients, including private companies, public companies and private equity funds, in sophisticated transactions that protect and enhance their business interests, including- Kingston Technology in connection with the carve-out and sale of its HyperX gaming peripherals business to HP Inc- Alpha Wave in its Series A preferred equity investment in Gamma Media Holdings, a media and technology company centered in music, film, podcasting and creative services- Mubadala Capital in connection with its participation in a consortium that purchased the YES Network from The Walt Disney Company- certain Abu Dhabi entities in connection with the sale of their equity interests in Zuffa Parent LLC, which owned Ultimate Fighting Championship- a private equity firm based primarily in India in its strategic investment in a U.S. data, analytics, and AI solutions company- a global private equity fund in a co-investment in an Argentinian fiber network company- a renewable energy infrastructure investor in its acquisition of rights in a 400 MW solar project; and- VCA Inc, a publicly traded national animal healthcare company, in the acquisition of all of its outstanding stock by Mars Corporation.In addition, I am very active in diversity and inclusion and pro bono efforts, serving as a member of Akin’s firmwide Opportunity & Inclusion Council and co-chairing the California Pro Bono Committee and the Los Angeles office’s Opportunity & Inclusion Council.
