Member of the Research Waymo team and tech lead, developing Multimodal Foundational Models for self-driving.My work at Waymo has made possible the transition from a stack based on classical control models to an AI stack based on Foundational Models.Currently, I lead the development of Multimodal Foundational Models for the robotics domain (with focus on critical safety self-driving applications): 1) Devising Foundational models from scratch and the infrastructure needed for their training and optimization for production use-cases. 2) Finetuning existing LLM multi-modal models, like Gemini, for behavior prediction and control of agents.
