About Carlin Piper

My profession experience has included a wide variety of industries including the hospitality field, medical field, and now the labels and packaging field. Starting off working at a day care center and then migrating to working as a hostess and catering server has enabled me to build my customer service skills and learn how to best meet customer needs. These skills carried over to my first internship at Acandis medical device company in Germany. This company builds brain stents and my role for the summer was to analyze the financial impact of building a clean room on site, as opposed to outsourcing to another company. In this, I had to take the client\'s (in this case the president of the company) needs into account and show through research and data analysis that building a clean room will be a profitable option within the next 7 years. I presented my findings to a small group of executives who used my presentation to show stakeholders. The following summer, my role shifted to one that is heavier tech based at Avery Dennison. My focus was on learning BI reporting tools within the company, in particular Cognos, and training a branch of the organization on how to utilize these tools on their own to extract relevant data. I created training material and worked one on one with members of the Reflectives branch to accomplish this. This summer I have returned to Avery Dennison with a better knowledge of the business and a new challenging project to complete. With the help of a Data Analytics intern, I acted as the project manager in created an RFM (recency, frequency, monetary) report to help the sales team identify customers who Avery Dennison is in danger of losing, as well as those who have the opportunity for growth. We are working to clean the data to utilize predictive analytics to identify future trends. I am very excited to see how these experiences shape my future professional career.
