ABOUT CARLIE DIKES
After graduating in 2014 with my B.A. in Public Relations, I found my niche working in live music. My days were spent negotiating riders, collaborating with local and international companies, and refreshing my email; my nights were spent managing green rooms, chauffeuring artists, and consuming entirely too much caffeine. As I reached my mid-20s, I felt myself being pulled in a different direction professionally. I loved collaborating with others and learning new things, so I began my search for jobs within education. I put myself back in school and received my B.S. in Child and Family Sciences. While completing my studies, I accepted a job as a remediation teacher at my local elementary school. I applied and was accepted into an alternate route program through my school and received my teaching license. I now spend my days collaborating with coworkers and parents to ensure students receive a quality education in an inclusive environment. I can pull from my past hospitality experience and combine it with my teaching techniques to create engaging science and social studies lessons that incorporate standards and objectives. My goal within the classroom is to foster independence and creativity within students while also guiding them to transition seamlessly into a group setting.
