The primary purpose of the Community Planner position is to provide technical advice & guidance to State, Tribal, and local officials in the development of sound mitigation strategies through planning to reduce vulnerability to future hazards. Other duties also include reviewing ordinances, projects, and mitigation plans for compliance with applicable Federal Statutes; attending and conducting a variety of meetings and delivering training workshops throughout the Region with Federal, State, Tribal and local government officials; and assessing training needs of state and local partners, conducting/coordinating training courses to meet needs.
