ABOUT CARLA MARTI SOBREPERA

Since I was a little kid, I have always looked up at how complex cars can be and wondered how it is done. Specifically related to sport cars and motorsport and how each year they managed to be even better and faster than the previous with new designs that were innovative. I discovered the meaning of having a passion from being at my home Formula 1 Grand Prix as a 10-year-old watching my idol race. The noise, the energy from the crowds, the adrenaline and the speed were what I loved the most. This took me to studying Mechanical Engineering at the University of Surrey, to understand the connection of elements and putting them together to create great machinery. I came across Formula Student and got involved straight away. Through the years I got to design, manufacture the vehicle and components at the workshop and compete at the event at Silverstone. Although it was tough and a lot of hours were involved, I loved every minute and it was definitely worth it! This passion took me to Aston Martin, where I joined initially as an Engineering Graduate, being able to explore several departments to understand where my drive was best suited, and to my current role as a Senior R&D Engineer in the Aerodynamics department. Even when I leave the office, I follow motorsports and travel to watch races or volunteer during the weekends with race teams to gain experience.
