As Human Resources Director at Sierra Tucson, Carla Carpentier, SPHR, SHRM-SCP brings over 17 years’ experience within the behavioral health industry to Sierra Tucson. The HR team serves over 475 employees that provide Sierra Tucson’s signature compassionate care and clinical excellence to the nearly 1700 patients each year who seek residential care at the world renowned facility. As part of the Executive Leadership Council (ELC) she is dedicated to rolling out training programs to improve supervisor leadership, strengthening relationships with local colleges and universities for future recruiting, and analyzing the employee experience in pursuit of continuous improvement to assure employee satisfaction and retention. Prior to her appointment at Sierra Tucson, Carla worked within both the behavioral health industry and non-profit organizations and most recently, as Director of Human Resources at Sonora Behavioral Health Hospital. Prior to moving to Tucson in 2004, she lived in North Carolina where she began her HR career at Piedmont Behavioral Healthcare (now Cardinal Innovations Healthcare), where she served in various roles for 14 years, working her way up through the ranks to become Assistant Director of HR before moving to Arizona. Having attained HR certification from HRCI and the Society for Human Resources Management (SHRM), Carla credits an HR leader she worked with over 25 years ago as inspiring her view of HR’s role as an integral component in helping organizations succeed. She believes that it is imperative to put employees first and essential to help them feel valued. Her philosophy is that when the HR team operates to partner with leadership and serve as employee advocates, the organization is best positioned to live its vision and achieve its mission.
