About Carl Hahn
I am a highly accomplished C-suite executive and global leader in ethics, compliance, emerging technology and risk management. As a co-founder of Gentic Global Advisors, I leverage my deep expertise in designing and deploying best-in-class operational and compliance programs to help organizations manage emerging risks while driving strategic growth. Before founding Gentic, I served as Vice President, Chief Ethics & Compliance Officer at Northrop Grumman Corporation, where I led the enterprise-wide ethics, compliance, and anti-corruption functions, including oversight of compliance with export/import laws, sanctions, and AI governance frameworks. During my tenure, I helped establish Northrop Grumman as a leader in responsible AI and also developed and implemented AI governance procedures, controls, and codes of conduct to ensure responsible technology deployment and risk management. My work at Northrop Grumman included leveraging data and analytics to assess organizational health, identify cultural risks, and monitor transactions for potential corruption or quality/safety failures. I also managed compliance with a 2018 FTC order arising out of the Orbital/ATK acquisition, ensuring adherence to complex regulatory requirements related to the company’s solid rocket motor business. Previously, I held multiple senior roles at IBM Corporation, where I led compliance operations across Europe, the Americas, and Asia. As Vice President & Associate General Counsel, Trust & Compliance Officer, I oversaw cross-border investigations involving FCPA violations, anti-corruption compliance, and internal controls. During my tenure at IBM Japan, I developed compliance programs and represented the company in regulatory matters with Japanese authorities.A sought-after speaker and thought leader, I am a recognized authority on ethics, compliance, and AI governance. I frequently speak at international conferences and contribute to shaping values-based frameworks for responsible AI governance.I hold a Juris Doctor from the University of Virginia School of Law, where I served as Chair of the Rules Committee for the Moot Court Board, and a Bachelor of Arts, Phi Beta Kappa, from the College of William and Mary. I am admitted to practice law in New York, Virginia, and the District of Columbia.
