About Carl Burnett

I hold a BS in Computer Information Technology and have over 10 years of IT experience. As the IT Asset Management Lead for Virginia State University, I manage a small team: coordinating field tasks, creating service tickets, and then assigning them accordingly. I maintain valid inventory processes and procedures, utilizing SharePoint and Excel to log, track, and reallocate over assets. In addition to that, I analyze data and reconcile inventories and entitlements against discovery data to confirm that assets are reported appropriately. I am responsible for providing workstation support, performing software audits of installs on desktops, servers, and network computers, as well as tracking and maintaining copies of software licenses, warranties, and maintenance agreements. I am also the Queue Manager of the department\'s queue and sometimes handle various incident requests. I assist the Procurement Analyst with decisions regarding the purchasing of assets, i.e, number count, warranty years cost, and licensing count. As a result of my responsibilities, I have developed a better understanding of Asset Management, gained supervisory experience, and become proficient with analyzing data, spreadsheet and database software, and word processing.
