About Cara Christeson Malek
I am a creative manager and a technical artist who loves to collaborate with artists and engineers. I enjoy tackling challenging problems, and I believe that passionate teams can build amazing things. My career has been diverse, from working at a desk, teaching classes, presenting to executives, inspecting robots on a construction site, to working on the set of a major film, and I have loved it all.I have experience in main-stream animation applications (Maya, 3DS Max), and extensive proprietary software. My programming experience includes Python, java, and C, as well as proprietary scripting languages.As Supervisor of Character Technology at DreamWorks Animation, I focused on oversight of the studio rigging team and developing more efficient and effective workflows, as well as leading a team in the development of multi-million dollar, groundbreaking rigging software. Currently, I am a Principal Show Programmer at Walt Disney Imagineering, helping to design, test, and program animatronic figures for Disney\'s theme parks, and quite literally bringing the magic to life!
