About Cara Esposito George

I became a nurse in 2005 with one clear purpose: to advocate for patients and their families when they need it most.Over the past two decades, I have worked across orthopedics, geriatrics, wound care, pediatrics, dermatology, otolaryngology, and primary care. Today, I bring that experience to my work supporting mesothelioma patients and their caregivers, helping them navigate complex treatment decisions, access care, and feel less alone in the process. My background blends clinical practice, healthcare leadership, and public health. While serving in leadership roles at Yale University and Yale Medicine, I supported patients participating in a groundbreaking clinical trial, helping them overcome barriers to treatment, medication access, and insurance coverage. That work later led to educating nurses across the East Coast on supporting patients undergoing immunotherapy and navigating access challenges.I earned a Bachelor of Science in Healthcare Administration with a minor in psychology and later completed a Master of Public Health and Health Sciences from the University of New Haven. I also served the State of Connecticut as Regional Chief Operating Officer for Health Services, working across disciplines to strengthen care delivery and ensure equitable access to quality medical and mental health services.I believe advocacy goes beyond logistics. Patients face emotional, social, and financial challenges alongside medical ones. My additional training in substance use disorders, human rights education, trauma-informed care, Mental Health First Aid, and QPR suicide prevention allows me to meet individuals and families where they are, without judgment. At the heart of everything I do is a simple commitment: patient- and family-first care. It is a privilege to walk alongside mesothelioma patients and their loved ones, helping them understand their options, access resources, and feel supported at every stage of their journey. If you or someone you love needs guidance navigating complex healthcare decisions, I am here to help.
