This is an international consultancy dealing with software metrics, software measurement, software quality, and litigation support.Worked at IBM from 1965 until 1978. Left IBM with 40 others to form a new software laboratory for ITT in Stratford, CT. Founded Software Productivity Research (SPR) in 1984. SPR was a pioneer in software cost estimating, software assessments, and software benchmarks. Allan Albrecht, the inventor of function points, worked at SPR after leaving IBM. Other well-known metric and function point experts who worked at SPR include Michael Bragen, Doug Brindley, Tom Cagley, Mike Cunnane, David Garmus, Bill Harmon, David Herron, David Longstreet, and Mark Pinis. SPR was sold in 1998. After four years it was repurchased by employees. Doug Brindley is the President and Michael Bragen the VP of Technology.Author of 17 books, most of which deal with assessments, estimating, measurement, and project management.My latest book is The Technical and Social History of Software Engineering, Addison Wesley, 2014. It is now being translated into several languages.My previous book with Olivier Bonsignour as co-author is \"The Economics of Software Quality.\" It was published in July 2011 by Addison Wesley. This is out in Chinese and Japanese as well as English.A recent book is \"Software Engineering Best Practices\" which was published in November of 2009 by McGraw Hill and is copyrighted for 2010.Other recent books are Assessments, Benchmarks, and Best Practices (Addison Wesley Estimating Software Costs (McGraw Hill 2007); and Applied Software Measurement (McGraw Hill, 2008).In addition, published The History and Future of Narragansett Bay in 2006 through Universal Press and Amazon Kindle.Specialties: Primarily I work with large software-producing organizations. My interests include embedded software, systems software, IT software, commercial software, outsource software, and defence software.Within the software field my specialites include quality and productivity estimation, measurement and metrics, and project management.I have also worked as an expert witness in 15 lawsuits dealing with software breach of contract and software tax cases.
