About Christian Osmena
Christian Osmeña is vice president for enterprise planning at Arizona State University, where he guides plans that advance the ASU Public Enterprise. He is also a professor of practice in ASU\'s Watts College of Public Service and Community Solutions and the Mary Lou Fulton College for Teaching and Learning Innovation.Before joining ASU, Osmeña served for more than a decade in California\'s government. He was a vice chancellor for the California Community Colleges, the largest system of higher education in the United States. Earlier, he worked as an analyst and then principal analyst at the California Department of Finance, where he focused on education issues. He also served in the Office of the Governor of California as the assistant to the Governor’s chief of staff and as a deputy cabinet secretary.Osmeña is currently a trustee and chairperson of the board of trustees of California College; a member of the Arizona Early Childhood Development and Health Board, also known as the First Things First State Board; a member of the City of Phoenix Audit Committee; and a director of the Filipino Young Leaders Program. He was a member of the board of directors of the University of California College of the Law, San Francisco, then named UC Hastings.He is a delegate to the French-American Foundation\'s Young Leaders Program. He previously participated in the Millennium Fellowship at the Atlantic Council, the United States-Spain Council\'s Young Leaders Program, the Filipino Young Leaders Program, the Flinn-Brown Fellowship, the Pahara Fellowship, and the California Education Policy Fellowship. He is a term member of the Council on Foreign Relations, a member of the Aspen Global Leadership Network, and a member of the Phoenix Committee on Foreign Relations. In 2025, the Phoenix Business Journal recognized him as one of the region\'s 40 Under 40 top executives.Osmeña earned a doctorate in education from the University of California, Davis, a master’s degree in public administration from the University of Southern California, and a bachelor’s degree in political science from the University of California, Berkeley. He is a student at ASU\'s Sandra Day O\'Connor College of Law.
