About Candice Vega
The importance of union and guild agreements in the entertainment industry has been undoubtedly highlighted recently. Focus has switched from traditional media to new media and as new methods of reaching audiences are developed, staying abreast of applicable guild and contractual obligations become more complicated and a higher priority. I have participated in meeting the demands of these ever changing and newly created contracts throughout their entire life cycle from AMPTP negotiations to Payroll and Residuals processing. I\'ve worked closely with technology staff to update existing systems and create new ones. I\'ve developed department materials, processes and procedures to adapt to the ever changing entertainment contract environment. The knowledge I have gained over the past 15 years, will help me excel within the Labor Relations, Contract Management or Residuals department of your organization.Specialties: Union Contract AdministrationI have an extensive knowledge of global union/guild entertainment contracts covering new media, theatrical films and television as well as commercials and live events. I interpret. brief and utilize various domestic and foreign guilds agreements, including SAG, AFTRA, DGA, WGA, ACTRA, MEAA and other union contracts on a daily basis for agents, managers, attorneys, studios, distributors and performers. I’m familiar with the definitions of gross receipts, net receipts, distribution costs as well as well as all aspects of contractual obligations from production payroll to residuals. I assist with any and all inquiries related to union agreements.Talent Contracts Analyzation Individual player, director and writer contracts often impact contractual obligations. I interpret and summarize these contracts on a daily basis for clients and staff. I incorporate them into the “big picture” of contractual requirements for products as a whole. I\'m able to resolve disputed raised by talent and their representatives so that escalation is not required.Employee Evaluation, Training and MonitoringI draft cheat sheets, contract briefs and rule summaries for every union agreement, worldwide, covering any and all types of contractual obligations. These summaries include updates issued by guilds through annual Memo of Agreement (MOA) publications. These documents provide quick reference materials to clients and staff alike. Employee error rates drop an average of 25% under my supervision.
