About Judy Lin

After a decade in Customs and Trade, I am well-versed in many areas domestically and internationally. Our current trade climate requires that I stay attuned to the ever-changing regulations, which has shaken up the industry as I work to ensure that these changes are strategic and beneficial to businesses. Over the years in each of the fields I have worked in have culminated in a breadth of perspective regarding trade matters due to having to reflect upon issues and resolve them from various perspectives while mitigating risk. I was able to utilize my knowledge base while working with the Forced Labor Working Group’s outside counsel on the official comment submitted in response to the FR Notice regarding the UFLPA. These are only the tip of the iceberg for many industries. As younger consumers increase market share, their principles are starting to impact trends as they start to understand the negative environmental impacts of overconsumption and gravitate toward investing in sustainable or secondhand pieces, policies will need to adjust with these market changes. My hope is to move toward worker-centric policies that allow for equitable solutions, while remaining cognizant of how trade policy can shape climate issues and reward sustainability initiatives. As industries make moves on self-regulation, private businesses can advocate for change at the federal level. There is no time like now to empower consumers to make smarter purchases that can be made easier by the removal of unnecessary trade barriers, while also strategically using tariff policies to keep the US competitive and create opportunities for our global business partners. If we want to continue to stay in business, then we need to remove the hindrances and show consumers that we care about the issues and are all in this together. I would love to be given the opportunity to utilize all that I have learned throughout my career to be able to seek ways to reinvigorate the Customs and Trade sector.
