About Camilla Hermann
Camilla is an entrepreneur whose quest to find the most rigorous and impactful ways of doing good has led her to refugee camps in Ghana, an underground bunker in Jordan, Ebola hot zones in Sierra Leone, border towns in Liberia, hospitals in Texas, and vibro-acoustic chambers in New York. It was through these experiences that she honed her core strengths: unwavering integrity and getting shit done. Camilla has built both for-profit companies and non-profit organizations. Her work has been featured by CBS News, Harvard University, Huffington Post, as well as at the Clinton Global Initiative University Conference, the United Nations NGO Conference, and as a semi-finalist for the Ashoka Changemaker Challenge. Notably, Camilla developed a life-saving tech platform, Assisted Contact Tracing (ACT) to scale outbreak containment of Ebola during the 2014 epidemic in West Africa. She secured endorsements, partnerships, and/or operational support for the platform from Google Crisis Response, The Liberian Government, The World Health Organization, Medecins Sans Frontieres, Cellcom – a major telecommunication company in Liberia and Ghana, and InSTEDD – the most experienced crisis response and mHealth tech nonprofit. Medecins Sans Frontieres agreed to make ACT an official pilot of the organization, something MSF has never done before during a health crisis. Areas of expertise include: human-centered design, systems thinking, product management, product innovation, team building, servant leadership.
