About Cameryn Blake

Originally from Dayton, Ohio, a city completely immersed in the performing and visual arts, design, art, and technology have always been at the intersection of my life. As an adolescent, I attended Stivers School for the Arts, a performing arts magnet school, with concentrations in Visual Arts and Dance. During this time, I trained in Fine Arts, Ceramics, Sculpting, and various forms of dance including Classical Ballet and Modern dance. While in middle school, I had the goal of becoming a fashion designer and set my sights on the University of Cincinnati\'s DAAP Fashion Design program. Fast forward to 2017, I began a long, strenuous yet rewarding journey at DAAP where I gained experience at 5 major apparel design companies and 1 startup via DAAP\'s co-operative education program. While completing a Team Sports design internship at Under Armour, I self-taught myself CLO 3D for nearly 4 months. This set the trajectory of my design career leading into senior year. During senior year, I started my digital fashion business where I collaborated with independent designers and smaller brands to help them visualize their ideas in 3D before making a physical prototype. This was very useful during the pandemic as makers studios were closed down and a 3D visualization was one step above a 2D sketch. Knowing that I had successfully created a digital fashion business model, I decided to further explore this use-case with my senior capstone project: Noir Vacui, The Director\'s Cut. This senior capstone was the first of its kind at University of Cincinnati, debuting as the first digital-only fashion collection at in-person fashion show. I was awarded Director\'s Choice by the School of Design and many accolades outside of DAAP for this collection. This collection was also awarded CFDA Graduate Futures designation and promoted on CFDA\'s website for a full year. This visibility netted me opportunities to showcase work at Art Basel that same year and become a contributor to digital fashion projects with Cash by Cash App and Laquan Smith. After graduating from DAAP with a B.S in Fashion Design, I moved to Portland to begin my digital fashion & apparel design career as a 3D digital apparel design intern at Nike, before securing a full-time offer at the end of the internship. Currently, I have been at Nike for 3 years with experience in 3D digital apparel visualization, patternmaking, and physical prototyping between two teams. With a passion for sustainable making, combining new methods of technological ideation with physical craftmanship, and education, my journey continues!
