ABOUT CAMERON LEASK

When delivery outcomes really matter - public scrutiny, regulatory pressure, real capital at risk - do your programmes truly feel under control, or trapped in a system of hidden dependencies, delay and opaque reporting? If you recognise this, you’re not alone. I’m a Chartered Accountant with over 30 years’ experience as a business leader in complex, regulated and capital-intensive environments. I bring that commercial rigour to how I work with leadership teams on delivery - because in organisations accountable for totex efficiency and regulatory commitments, delivery assurance isn’t a methodology question. It’s a leadership and governance question. What I typically find is a familiar pattern. Delivery is unpredictable despite detailed plans. Extra work is started to compensate for uncertainty - and throughput drops further. Risk surfaces late via escalation. Variance is explained, not prevented. Decisions on sequencing and investment are made with limited visibility of real constraints across portfolios, programmes and partner boundaries - exactly where leaders have the least line of sight. It’s not a leadership failure - it’s what complex delivery systems produce when work is tracked but flow is unmanaged. Teams optimise locally, governance layers are added when confidence drops, and status updates are mistaken for progress. There is a different way to work. In one capital programme, redesigning how work was prioritised, sequenced and released reduced time from approval to site by two-thirds - not through additional resource, but by making constraints visible that had been hidden in plain sight. When leaders can see how work really flows and make better-timed decisions about prioritisation and trade-offs, delivery becomes calmer, steadier and more defensible. That means clearer alignment between strategic intent and portfolio sequencing, earlier evidence-based conversations about risk, forecast confidence that holds under board and regulatory scrutiny, and less reliance on heroic effort. I work at the intersection of leadership behaviours, ways of working, and delivery assurance - coaching leadership teams to create genuine delivery confidence when the stakes are high. If you’re responsible for capital delivery and want it to feel more predictable and defensible, I’m happy to share what I’m seeing across similar portfolios. Send me a message.
