About Cameron Brown
I am an electrical engineer who specializes in designing and testing analog and power conversion circuits, including Switch Mode Power Supplies (SMPS) and motor controller PWM circuits. The power converters I\'ve designed have been for battery charging, vehicle control, and military weapons applications. I have designed power electronics for automotive 12V/48V, MIL-STD-704 type 28 V dc and 115 3-phase 400 Hz aircraft power, 120/230VAC and 3 phase 208VAC. Applications include both dc-dc and ac-dc converters with power factor correction.I also design electronic actuator (motor) controller circuitry. I have designed controllers for compressors, valves, and fin/flap actuators as well as pump, fan and door controls and automotive lighting.I also have strengths in analog circuit design and simulation (Spice), schematic capture, PCB layout, and circuit test/validation.I find electric motor traction and actuation applications fascinating. As a hobby, I have built a high current (200+ Amp), 48 V motor controller for an electric go-kart.Specialties: Power electronics design, automotive electronics, PCBA design/layoutElectronic motor control.Analog circuit design.
Experience
Sr Staff Electronic Design Engineer
Feb 2024 — Present · Palo Alto, CA, US
I have enjoyed working on various PCBA designs to support both vehicle and robotics applications. I have been the primary owner/contributor for vehicle PCBA electronics that control power distribution, thermal system control (valves, sensors, pumps, fans, blowers). I have enjoyed participating on the team that brought 48V into production vehicles with the Cybertruck, in addition to contributing significantly to Model 3, Y, S, and X.Robot applications I have designed include power distribution, battery management system (BMS), charger interface electronics, and lighting electronics.
