Cameron W. George is Chief Executive Officer of Mesquite Energy, Inc, a privately held independent oil and natural gas exploration and production (E&P) company focused on the development of its properties in the Eagle Ford Shale in South Texas. Most recently he served as Executive Vice President and Chief Financial Officer of Sanchez Energy Corporation, a publicly traded (NYSE-listed) E&P company and predecessor of Mesquite Energy. Before joining Sanchez, Mr. George was a member of the founding, pre-IPO team of Linn Energy, LLC, a publicly traded (NASDAQ-listed) oil and natural gas company, and served in positions of increasing responsibility in finance and corporate development for more than a decade. During this time, he worked on 60+ asset and corporate M&A transactions and played a key role in raising $20+ billion of capital to transform a small private company managing a few mature natural gas wells in Appalachia into a top-10 U.S. independent, with production of 1.2+ Bcfe/d and operations in every major basin across the country. He has also managed the most active capital markets program, largest bank group, most extensive hedge portfolio and one of the largest insurance programs in the U.S. E&P industry. Previously, Mr. George was an investment banker in the energy group at RBC Capital Markets, where he focused on public and private financings and mergers and acquisitions for the E&P, midstream and oilfield service sectors. He graduated summa cum laude with business honors and received a BBA from Southern Methodist University.Mr. George was selected as a member of the Houston Business Journal’s 40 Under 40 Class of 2013, honoring top Houston business leaders under the age of 40 who actively contribute to their companies, industries and communities. In November 2013, he was invited to publish an article in the Houston Business Journal with career advice for young professionals. In April 2014, Oil and Gas Investor named him one of the Top 20 Under 40 in E&P.
